Pedimented Pier Limestone Wall Fountain with a Lion Boss

A narrow limestone pier crowned with a low triangular pediment over a moulded cornice makes up the whole backplate of this reclaimed wall fountain, so the piece reads as a single upright rather than a wall panel. A circular recess is cut into the rough shaft to seat a dark bronze lion boss and its spout. The trough below is the striking part, a monolithic block eaten into deep vertical runnels and open pitting by long exposure, standing on small stone feet. Suited to small courtyards, garden corners and terrace walls.
