Fluted Pilaster Limestone Wall Fountain with a Bowed Basin

Uniformly pale and finely pitted throughout, this reclaimed limestone wall fountain is the most symmetrical piece in the collection. Two fluted pilaster strips frame the backplate beneath an arched moulded cap, and the centre steps forward in a cruciform panel to carry a leonine mask with a full carved mane and beard. What really sets it apart is the basin, bowed into a true semicircle with a heavy rolled coping and canted end blocks rather than the faceted apron used elsewhere.
